Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference 2012 Update

So...the bad news first. I only attended the conference one day-Thursday due to unforseen circumstances. Good news...I was able to receive alot of information that I feel will equip me to empower my community. I was able to meet my new boss--Congresswoman Terri Sewell and CNN Commentator--Roland Martin.

I was so happy that I attended the conference. Attending this conference back in 2008, is the reason why I am striving to be a public servant today. At the time I was a junior at Arizona State University living the average/normal college life-attending parties, events, classes--stuff that wasn't allowing me to utilize my full potential to implement change in the community or my campus. Thanks to Jackie Thompson (Southwest Airlines) and Dr. Carnella Hardin, I was able to get a sponsorship--all expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. to attend the CBC ALC. Every since then, I have been trying to get back there and this year, four years later I was able to make it a reality thanks to my family members mentioned in an earlier post.
